Abstract

Marikurubu Village is one of the urban areas in Central Ternate Sub-district, Ternate City, which has a relatively high population density and has experienced the development of community economic activities, including an increase in the number of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), such as motor vehicle repair workshops. These workshop activities generate used oil waste, which is categorized as hazardous and toxic waste (B3). Therefore, proper management efforts are required to prevent negative impacts on the environment. The 2025 Community Service Program (PKM) through the Student Workshop in Action activity (Bengkel Mahakarya) produced a stove technology that uses used oil as fuel and was disseminated to the community. The program aimed to increase the knowledge and skills of the community, especially housewives and MSME actors in Marikurubu Village, in utilizing used oil waste as an alternative fuel through a technology that is simple, effective, and environmentally friendly. The activity was carried out through several stages: socialization, counseling, demonstration of making a used-oil-fueled stove, and training on the use of the technology. The success of the program was evaluated through the distribution of post-test questionnaires to measure participants' level of understanding and acceptance of the introduced technology. The evaluation results showed that all participants (100%) were aware of the potential of utilizing used oil as an alternative fuel and had heard about the use of used-oil-fueled stoves. In addition, 100% of participants expressed their willingness to use the alternative stove. The participants' level of understanding of the working principle of the stove reached 95%, while 5% of participants still required further assistance. All participants (100%) understood the operating procedures of the alternative stove and were aware of the materials needed in the manufacturing process. Based on the results of the activity, it can be concluded that this PKM program was able to increase the community's insight and skills in managing used oil waste into a valuable alternative energy source. This simple technology has the potential to be developed as one of the solutions for reducing B3 waste while also supporting the implementation of environmentally friendly technology based on community empowerment.
